Newcastle 'very keen' on signing 6'2 England international

Newcastle United are “very keen” on signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson and are hopeful of landing him this summer, claims transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 25-year-old looks certain to leave Old Trafford after a difficult season, and it seems St James’ Park could be his destination.

It has been an extremely disappointing campaign for Henderson, who has not made a single appearance in the Premier League.

In total, the 6 ft 2 England international has played just three times for the Red Devils this term, with David de Gea the undisputed No.1 at the club.

After making 26 appearances in all competitions last season and signing a new deal until 2025, which is thought to be worth £100,000-a-week, it looked like Henderson was going to continue seriously competing with his Spanish rival.

However, that has not been the case, leaving Manchester United’s No.2 with a decision to make this summer.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Newcastle want Henderson and are hopeful that they can get something done.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: “They’re very, very keen on Dean Henderson, and they’re hopeful that they can put something together to make that happen.”

If it is between the Magpies and Manchester United, then yes. Simply put, it does not look like Henderson will ever become the Red Devils’ No.1

De Gea is still just 31, which is a good age for a goalkeeper, and continues to perform at Old Trafford. Only Leeds United’s Illan Meslier has made more saves (113) than the Spain international (105) in the Premier League this season.

Ultimately, it does not seem like he will be leaving the 20-time English champions
