Newcastle United supporters' pride as Eddie Howe lands manager of the month award

Newcastle supporters are ecstatic after Eddie Howe was named Premier League manager of the month for February. Three wins and a draw helped the Magpies climb out of the relegation zone despite looking destined for the drop in January.

An impressive unbeaten run has since extended to nine games, with victories against Brighton and Southampton in March giving Newcastle a 10-point cushion from the bottom three. Ryan Fraser was also in contention for the player of the month award but missed out to Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip.

If the stellar run of form continues, expect to see Howe and more Toon players nominated again next month. Some supporters also believe the Newcastle boss should be in the mix for manager of the year at the end of the season.

Only four managers have won the award despite not winning the Premier League title, with Alan Pardew bestowed the honour after guiding the Magpies to a fifth-placed finish in 2012. Replicating those heroics will endear Howe to the Newcastle faithful further and cement his status as one of the best young English managers in the business.

Fans congratulated the 44-year-old and his backroom staff after the announcement on Friday morning…

@NUFCBlogcouk: Love that he's included all of his coaches and backroom staff in this photo. A touch of class & more proof that Eddie knows this is very much a TEAM effort - which is evident in the way every single player puts in a shift. #NUFC
