Newcastle United midfielder joins Hamilton Accies on loan

Hamilton Accies have confirmed the loan signing of midfielder Lucas de Bolle from Newcastle United.

The Scotland under-21 midfielder made his first-team debut for the Magpies last month in a friendly against Athletic Bilbao and is highly rated by the St James' Park side and has today signed a new two-year deal at the English Premier League side.

And now Accies boss John Rankin has added the 19-year-old to his ranks ahead of Saturday's Championship clash away to Cove Rangers, with Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe keen for the teenager to gain first-team experience.

The talented teen is expected to join up with his new team-mates for the first time tomorrow morning.

The move had been expected to be completed sooner but de Bolle suffered a concussion while with the Magpies, which delayed his arrival at New Douglas Park.

A club statement read: “I am really pleased to have Lucas as part of our squad.

"He has bags of energy and is desperate to play football, we think he compliments our current crop of midfielders well.

“We have been keen to get him in for a while now and I believe he will be a really important player for us moving forward.”

De Bolle told nufc.co.uk: "I'm very happy to sign my new deal at a club where I have played for the last six years and the club me and my family have always supported.

"I have always dreamt of playing in the Premier League with Newcastle and this contract is a step in that direction and hopefully in the future I can do that.

"I am very pleased to sign with Hamilton on loan. I feel like I have had a good pre-season and going on loan now will be great for me to gain experience playing in mens' professional football and being around a first-team environment all the time.
