Newcastle transfer news: Toon tipped to swoop for £25m Broja, he has 'great technical ability'

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has claimed that Newcastle United could sign Armando Broja from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The Albania international is currently on loan at Southampton and has impressed throughout the season, scoring five Premier League goals.

They were incredibly active in the January transfer window.

The club spent huge money to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad as they attempt to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Newcastle have brought in a number of defenders, with Kieran Trippier arriving from Atletico Madrid, Dan Burn coming in from Brighton & Hove Albion and Matt Targett joining on loan from Aston Villa.

They also brought in a new striker in Chris Wood, triggering the release clause in his Burnley contract and bolstering their strike force as a result, while also weakening a relegation rival.

In addition to that, Newcastle did a huge deal to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, paying over £37m for his signature, per Transfermarkt.

It has been an incredible time to be a Magpies fan, with a number of players arriving at St James’ Park to bolster their hopes of climbing away from the relegation zone.

However, they were unable to sign a second striker in addition to the acquisition of Wood.

Reports linked the club with a move for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike but he ultimately opted against making the move to the north east.

Broja was also linked with a potential move to Newcastle although it is not clear if there was actually a bid tabled to Chelsea.

The 20-year-old has made a total of 18 Premier League games, scoring five times and laying on one assist, and Downie thinks that the club may be able to do a deal in the summer transfer window.

Broja also has the distinction of matching a Diego
