Newcastle star drops big injury update on Instagram

Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier has taken to Instagram to report back to fans on how his recovery is going.

Trippier has started life back in the Premier League well with Newcastle and was vital for the Magpies in winning back-to-back games after he scored two crucial free-kicks in both encounters.

He’s currently sitting on a 100% goal conversion rate, 3.5 tackles per game, 2.5 interceptions per game and 90% of his aerial duels won (SofaScore).

Unfortunately, the 31-year-old picked up a foot injury against Everton which required surgery.

Now, the right-back has taken to Instagram (via HITC) recently for a Q&A with the fans, and responded to one Magpies supporter when asked how his injury was going, responding: “Really well, thanks.”

TIF Thoughts on Trippier…

Interestingly, the Magpies have coped well without the right-back when you look at the results, as a win against Aston Villa and a point against West Ham have helped Newcastle climb out of the bottom three.

However, Eddie Howe clearly already rates Trippier highly as he had started in every game he was fit for so far and he was even made captain in a friendly against Al-Ittihad before skippering the side against Aston Villa in Jamaal Lascelles’ absence.

Trippier’s recent surgery turned out positive, but one worrying thing that has emerged recently is a claim from Chris Waugh, who believes that the defender is set to be out for 8-10 weeks.

However, hearing from the defender himself on Instagram will certainly have settled a few nerves as he clearly feels positive about the whole situation post-surgery.
