Newcastle reportedly want to snatch key Brighton figure who helped nurture Ben White

Newcastle’s new owners reportedly hope to continue the reconstruction their of backroom staff by bringing in another important figure from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Magpies recruited significant on-field personnel last month, which included the acquisition of hometown defender Dan Burn.

They have also managed to steal technical director Dan Ashworth from the Seagulls, who will join once his notice period expires.

Now the hierarchy want to lure academy manager John Morling to St James’ Park, according to the Daily Mail .

Morling has seen the likes of first team goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, Middlesbrough-loaned Aaron Connolly and Arsenal's Ben White graduate through the youth ranks.

He has also presided over Brighton’s youngsters reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup for only the second time in the club’s history.

Ashworth will lead the backroom overhaul upon his arrival while Morley has supposedly been offered an olive branch to take up a position within Newcastle’s academy.

Morley has now been at Brighton for ten years and in that time has helped the club gain Category One status, joining the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The former Norwich City youth player switched to coaching at Peterborough at 19-years-old before going on to manage the Irish FA’s Under-16s and Under-17s.

Newcastle spent an eyebrow-raising £92million in the January transfer window with Burn, Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes all coming through the door.

This figure is expected to be comfortably exceeded this summer, especially if the Magpies avoid relegation, with both on-field and off-field assets very much equally targeted.
