Newcastle now targeting 'two attacking signings' at St James' Park

Newcastle United may buy one more player and loan another before the summer transfer window shuts, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

Eddie Howe has overseen a surprisingly quiet few months at St James’ Park, following the takeover of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, but more names could still arrive before the September 1 deadline.

It is clear that the Magpies want to add more attacking flair to their side this summer, having already failed in two attempts to sign James Maddison from Leicester City.

More recently Newcastle are eyeing moves for Chelsea trio Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and Conor Gallagher, according to the Telegraph.

The publication also states that the club have a long-standing interest in striker Armando Broja, hinting that support for Callum Wilson is also a priority.

Benfica marksman Goncalo Ramos and Watford’s Joao Pedro have also been linked, although a £20 million bid has already been rejected for the latter.

The CBS reporter insists that the club were always likely to have quite a quiet summer but that two new players could still arrive.

He understands that those two deals could take the form of a permanent deal and a loan deal if needed.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “I was always told at the beginning of the window that Newcastle would be quite quiet. But, if they were going to add two more, they would be looking for a striker to support Callum Wilson and an attack-minded player. Newcastle’s interest in Broja is no secret and I was also told that they might even buy one and loan one.”

As Jacobs alluded to, a new striker and an attack-minded player for either wing should be their two biggest priorities moving forward.
