Newcastle handed another transfer blow amid Benjamin Sesko to Man United move
Newcastle United appear to have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Yoane Wissa, amid their ongoing chase for Benjamin Sesko - a race that also involves Manchester United.
United have seemingly moved ahead of Newcastle in their pursuit for Sesko this week and are closing in on a £74 million deal for the RB Leipzig striker. Despite strong interest from the Magpies, the forward is believed to favour a move to Old Trafford.
This could be a second blow for Eddie Howe and his team on Tyneside, following reports that Wissa is also being targeted by Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, the DR Congo international has been the subject of an approach from Al-Nassr in recent days - a development that could be a blow to Newcastle if they choose to re-enter negotiations with the Bees.
The Saudi Pro League club is reportedly prepared to meet Brentford’s demands and is currently discussing ways to convince the club, the player, and his representatives to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East.
The report adds that the Bees' valuation is considered too steep for Newcastle, Tottenham, and SC Neom. Wissa himself is thought to be keen on a move away from Brentford. He flew back from their pre-season camp in Portugal last month for important talks over his future with director of football Phil Giles.
He then returned to pre-season training with the rest of the squad at their west London base but has not featured in any of Brentford's pre-season games. Following the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, Wissa has emerged as a potential candidate to reunite with his former teammate.
