Newcastle co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi highlights positive to come out from Liverpool loss

Newcastle United's minority owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi says his disappointment at failing to beat Liverpool shows how far the club has come.

Mehrdad Ghodoussi was in the Milburn Stand with his wife and fellow co-owner Amanda Staveley to watch Newcastle United take on Liverpool this weekend. Despite a recent run of wins at St James' Park, Newcastle could not avoid a 1-0 defeat which saw Liverpool go top of the league.

Newcastle struggled to get into the game, with the Liverpool defenders always in control and repeatedly catching Newcastle's forwards offside. However, despite the result, Ghodoussi said the change in expectations at Newcastle showed how far the club had come since the takeover in November.

While @GlennMCcready wrote simply: "Absolutely."

Newcastle's next match will be away to Manchester City. After that they have just two matches left before attention will turn to summer recruitment.
