Newcastle: 66-goal striker could have 'head turned' by St James' Park move

Newcastle United could turn Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin‘s head, believes transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Tyneside club have been busy this window, and Jones is expecting them to add to the business they have already done by making a statement signing in attack.

Jones recently revealed on GIVEMESPORT that Calvert-Lewin is now Newcastle’s primary target for the striker position.

Last month, The Telegraph reported that Everton had scared off their Premier League rivals after telling them the England international would cost £60m.

However, it now looks like they are considering testing the water with a bid as Eddie Howe tries to add a new No.9 to his squad.

Last season, Calvert-Lewin scored five goals in all competitions for the Toffees, taking his career tally to 66.

Manager Frank Lampard will certainly be hoping so, especially with Richarlison leaving for Tottenham.

Speaking about Calvert-Lewin at the end of last season, the Everton boss said (via Liverpool Echo): “He is a fantastic striker, the pedigree of striker that there aren’t many around.

“It’s been unfortunate for me, I think, that I haven’t had him fit. [There have been] little moments of fitness, but we know that strikers – particularly out of any position – probably need runs of games and fitness
