New boss Ady Pennock begins making his mark at Ramsgate with some ‘tough calls’ as Ian Gayle, Kweku Lucan, TQ Addy and Eze Ebuzoeme leave the club
New Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock is delighted with the progress he’s already made.
The 55-year-old has only been in the post for a fortnight but has retained four players from last season’s squad following Tuesday’s news winger Benny Bioletti will spend a fourth year at the club next term.
Pennock is also closing in on his first new signings. It’s been a whirlwind period since he made the move from Dartford at the end of the season.
Alfie Paxman, Tom Clifford and Solomon Ogunwomoju have also put pen to paper on new deals, joining four players - Raphe Brown, TJ Jadama, Billy Munday and Henry Lukombo - who were already contracted for 2026-27.
But leaving the club are Ian Gayle, Kweku Lucan, TQ Addy and Eze Ebuzoeme.
“I’m really pleased,” said Pennock. “The first thing I wanted to do was to talk to all of the current squad as quickly as I could.
“It was hard to release some of the Ramsgate boys because they’re really good boys.
“Even the lads that I did release, I had a good look at it and spoke to a lot of people about them.
“It was a tough decision. I thanked them for what they did at Ramsgate but it was a footballing decision and we move on. But the ones that I’ve got on board again for next season, I’m really pleased with. We’ve got a good base already to work on.
“That was my first priority and then, obviously, I’ve got my own targets.”
On retaining the services of Paxman, Clifford and Ogunwomoju, Pennock added: “Roland Edge, my assistant, worked with Alfie previously at Folkestone. Alfie is a workaholic, he can play in different positions and is a fans’ favourite.
“Solomon’s record was decent, I think he’s scored 10 goals in 17 appearances, so I’m pleased with him.
