New Antony Real Betis claim raises concern for Man United as 'transfer clause added'

Antony was finally granted his wish to make a permanent move to Real Betis following a period of uncertainty at Manchester United.

The Brazilian, had returned to Manchester after reigniting his career at Betis, where he scored five goals and provided two assists in 17 La Liga appearances. After months of speculation, the Brazilian departed United on transfer deadline day to join Betis permanently.

The Manchester Evening News reported that United will receive a guaranteed €22million (£19m), with up to €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons. The club have also included a 50% sell-on clause to benefit from any future sale of Antony by Betis.

However, The Express claims that the Spanish club will now only have to give United 50 per cent of any profit -commonly known as capital gains - they make from the player in the future, rather than a straight 50 per cent of any future transfer fee.

Antony's deal could total up to £22.5m if all add-ons are triggered. The article goes on to claim that Betis will pay just around £3.9 million per year over Antony's five-year contract in Andalusia.

But that amount could reportedly increase by around £435,000 each year if Betis qualify for the Champions League or win a European title.

"Only my family knows how difficult it was to be there (in tears)," Antony said in his first interview for Betis. "Training separately... but I knew this incredible moment was coming. Of course, I was afraid it wouldn't happen in the end, but I waited because I had so much faith."
