Netherlands 3-2 Wales: Rob Page's men suffer more late heartache despite Johnson and Bale goals
Memphis Depay struck an injury-time winner as Netherlands defeated Wales 3-2 in the Nations League.
The hosts raced into a two-goal lead as Noa Lang and Cody Gakpo both struck, although Brennan Johnson netted his second goal in as many matches for his country to give Rob Page's side hope. And after Connor Roberts was fouled in the box late on, Gareth Bale converted from the spot to register his 39th international goal as Wales looked to have earned themselves a point.
But as was the case in the meeting between the sides a week earlier, Netherlands struck at the death through Depay as the Dutch extended their 100 per cent winning record against Wales to 10 matches.

Page was without a number of key players in Rotterdam following what has been a brutal June schedule. Kieffer Moore, Joe Morrell, Joe Allen, Neco Williams, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Danny Ward were all unavailable while Bale and Aaron Ramsey started on the bench.
Chances were at a premium early on, with Wales happy to remain compact as Louis van Gaal's men controlled possession. Wayne Hennessey made a routine save to deny Lang who shot from distance following a fine piece of defensive play by Gakpo.
But moments later, the Club Brugge forward emphatically punished Wales' sloppiness at the back. Wes Burns lost possession on the left, and Lang sent Chris Mepham and Joe Rodon the wrong way before drilling beyond Hennessey to make it 1-0.
It triggered what was to be a nervy spell for the Red Dragons who - perhaps with tiredness fully kicking in - were somewhat disjointed at the back. And it went from bad to worse for Page's side as the hosts doubled their advantage
