Netflix's Virgin River actress Alexandra Breckenridge devastated by family loss

Alexandra Breckenridge, star of the hit series Virgin River, was visibly emotional as she shared some devastating personal news with her Instagram followers.

The actress was clearly distressed as she spoke about a recent family tragedy.

Alexandra took to an Instagram Story to tell fans that their cherished rooster had been killed.

Having been a part of the family for four years at their Georgia residence, Alexandra was heartbroken to find out he had been snatched from their chicken coop.

The Netflix star suspects a coyote was responsible for the loss and confirmed the rooster did not survive, reports the Express.

Choking up, Alexandra disclosed: "We have two chickens left, so Joey was a part of our OG chicken group.

"We had chickens that were our first chickens. So Joey and Monica were left, and now.."

While Virgin River fans can't respond directly to her Stories, there's no doubt they share in the sorrow over Alexandra's unfortunate revelation.

This sad news comes on the heels of another difficult announcement by the actress that she had caught Covid for the fourth time, resulting in a loss of her sense of smell.

Since around 2017, after the birth of her second child, she has resided in the suburbs near Atlanta, Georgia.

The actress, who plays Mel Monroe in the hit small-town romance, married musician Casey Hooper in 2015, and they have two children together, son Jack and daughter Billie.

Reflecting on her move to Atlanta in an interview with Atlanta Magazine, she expressed: "The rural areas of Georgia have an amazing sense of community we were lacking in LA.

"We wanted our children to grow up in a place where they could play and ride their bikes that didn't feel like a big city."
