Netflix fans ask ‘what the hell did I just watch’ after seeing ‘horrific’ new film The Strays

Netflix fans have been left so disturbed by a new film that is so “horrific” they have asked “what the hell did I just watch?” The Strays, which dropped on the platform on February 22, centres around Neve, a mixed-race woman living in a middle-class and predominantly white suburb in the UK.

She lives a happy life with husband Ian, but the arrival of a strange man and woman soon causes her to question her sanity as her picturesque life begins to unravel. It stars Ashley Madekwe as Neve, alongside Jorden Myrie, Bukky Bakray, Maria Almeida, Samuel Small, Justin Salinger and Michael Warburton.

The psychological horror – from British actor and filmmaker Nat Martello-White in his feature debut – has so far received mixed reviews. It currently sits with a 52 percent critic score on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite this, fans have been watching the film in droves. The Strays has spent two weeks at second place in Netflix’s global top 10, with more than 43 million hours viewed since its launch.

But some viewers have found it so scary they have been unable to sleep, and they have warned others about watching. Others were so shaken they could not even make it through the entire film.
