Neser has NSW batters reeling in shield

Recently-capped Test fast bowler Michael Neser has led Queensland to a strong position as NSW's top-order collapsed on the second morning of the Sheffield Shield match in Brisbane.

NSW went to lunch at 7-125, still trailing the home side's modest first innings total by 68 runs.

The Blues resumed at 2-33 but Neser (3-49) soon had Jack Edwards (12) caught at second slip, and followed up with the wickets of Baxter Holt (12) and Trent Copeland (duck).

Acting captain Daniel Hughes has played a defiant knock at the top of the order to be unbeaten on 41, and the opener belatedly found support in the shape of No.9 Chris Tremain (27 no).

Mark Steketee, who took two wickets on the previous evening, has figures of 2-29, while Jack Wildermuth (1-17) and James Bazley (1-15) chipped in with key wickets.

Queensland had struggled throughout their innings on a challenging Gabba wicket to make 193 on Wednesday, with Test batsman Usman Khawaja top-scoring with a gritty 63.
