Neil Warnock forgets Aberdeen FC disaster as he hypes up quickfire managerial return with Plymouth

Neil Warnock insists he would have made a quickfire return to management after leaving Aberdeen for Plymouth Argyle.

The veteran boss stepped into the Pittodrie hot seat on an interim basis after Barry Robson was sacked at the end of January. Dave Cormack and the rest of the board gave the boss the nod as they searched for a permanent appointment - but after failing to win in any of his six Premiership matches at the helm, Warnock stepped down just minutes after guiding the Dons to the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

But the 75-year-old does not appear to have been put off by the experience in the Granite City as he declared he would have stepped into the English Championship hot seat if offered the job. Warnock guided Argyle to promotion from what is now League Two in 1996 - and with the struggling side sacking Ian Foster earlier this week he declared he would have stepped in an attempt to save the club.

After director of football Neil Dewsnip and first team coach Kevin Nancekivell were put charge until the end of the season, Warnock told BBC Radio Devon: "I would have done it if they'd have asked me, but they haven't they've gone that way.

"They've got some really good players. I've seen enough of the players this year, (Morgan) Whittaker especially, to know that they've got enough to stay up. I know the other teams down at the bottom end, and they're more than capable of staying up.

"You've got to eliminate the little errors for goals and rely on the players that you've got. I love the club so I just want them to do well and I'll be going to some of the games and hoping that they can get the results. It's a fabulous club, anything to help them out. That is my club. I will be going to some of these games."
