Neil Lennon tells Celtic fans to be careful what they wish for as board abuse sparks Dermot Desmond defence

Neil Lennon has warned Celtic fans to be careful what they wish for after they turned their fury on the board at the weekend.

Peter Lawwell got it in the neck from peeved punters as they watched their favourites lose a second Premiership match in succession for the first time in over ten years. Hearts' 2-0 win was also a first home defeat in 52 Parkhead outings. The latest failure means that Rangers have a real shot at overhauling their rivals at the top of the Premiership when they looked to be eating the Hoops' dust just a few weeks ago.

But Lennon sees no reason to panic. And he can't understand targeting club chiefs on the back of a Treble last season and two decades of dominance under majority shareholder Dermot Desmond. instead, he's urged fans to recognise that Brendan Rodgers and his players need their support through this sticky spell, rather than again having to produce for an expectant fanbase in order to keep the abuse at bay.
