Neil Critchley offers Blackpool injury update ahead of Barnsley meeting

The two sides meet on Tuesday evening as both sides begin preparations for next season.

The Tangerines go into this midweek fixture 16th in the Championship table, where a win could take them above Swansea City and into 14th.

Meanwhile, Barnsley’s fate has been sealed and the Tykes will be competing in League One next season following their relegation.

Critchley has confirmed that there are no fresh injury concerns going into Tuesday night.

The 43-year old has also revealed that both Daniel Grimshaw and Kevin Stewart have returned to training in recent days.

However, neither will be ready yet to be available for action against Barnsley.

“There’s nothing from Saturday so there’s no injury issues from Saturday, the squad will be similar again,” said Critchley, via Lancs Live.

“I don’t think there’s anyone to come back in yet, so Jordan Gabriel, no, Dujon, no. 

“Kevin Stewart has started training, he’s only trained a couple of days, Sonny Carey’s been in and around it but has had no football since Boxing day, Luke Garbutt was on the bench Saturday so I think that’s it.

“Grimmy’s joined back in training as well, team training, the last couple of days which has been a real plus as well.”

Blackpool will be preparing to face a side without a permanent manager following the dismissal of Poya Asbaghi by Barnsley on Sunday.

This is the antepenultimate game of the season for Critchley’s side, with their final two games coming against Derby County and Peterborough United, which coincidentally makes up the bottom three teams in the table.

Tuesday night’s clash kicks off at 7.45pm.

Blackpool have a comfortable end to the season, which gives Critchley the chance to experiment with his team a little.
