Neighbours of Airbnb where Jay Slater was last seen fear 'something strange has happened here'

Tenerife locals have spoken of their fears for Jay Slater almost four weeks since he left an Airbnb and vanished.

The 19-year-old, from Lancashire, was invited back to Casa Abuela Tina in the north-west of the island - having been partying with pals in the south. The apprentice bricklayer was then seen leaving the property by foot, on the morning of June 17.

His last known location was the in the vast Rural Parc de Teno which surrounds the village of Masca, where the Airbnb is based. The Manchester Evening News returned to the area surrounding the Airbnb today (July 12), as parallel investigations into Jay's disappearance continue.

"Because - if he wasn’t waiting for the bus - we do think it’s strange that he would do that, being thirsty and tired, would decide to return to Los Cristianos on foot." The couple say they have seen 'lots of police these past few weeks, and possibly more English people that are searching' for Jay.

It's a sight that has been unusual in the tiny
