Neco Williams could leave Liverpool before transfer deadline after Championship enquiry

Bournemouth have contacted Liverpool about taking Neco Williams on loan for the rest of the season.

The Wales international has made just one Premier League appearance this season, playing the final few minutes of the 5-0 win over Watford in October.

James Milner has been preferred at right-back ahead of Williams at times this season and with Trent Alexander-Arnold firmly in place as the first choice at Anfield, Williams has featured just eight times this campaign.

The ECHO understands the defender has cut short a break in Dubai to talk through the options with his representatives ahead of Monday's 11pm transfer deadline.

Liverpool are open to the idea of sending Williams out to gain first-team exposure on a more regular basis.

With promotion-chasing Bournemouth currently third in the Championship, a short-term move to the south coast is seen as a potentially ideal one for Williams.

With Wales in the play-offs for a spot at this year's World Cup, regular game-time for the 20-year-old would aid his international claims, which is a point that was made by Dragons manager Robert Page last year.

“The players want to be playing football, how can they not?" Page said in November.

When you are involved in games like that [against Belgium], you can’t buy that feeling.

“When you have come off and you have played really well and you listen to the supporters, you can’t buy that.

“They will want to re-create that week in, week out. Players will want to play games.
