Ndombele insists he thinks 'it's possible to be happy' at Tottenham

Tanguy Ndombele has admitted he may be happy to stay at Tottenham after returning from his loan spell at Lyon, despite falling out of favour.

Until last week, the midfielder was the club's record signing, having arrived from the same Ligue 1 side in 2019, but he was rarely selected by boss Antonio Conte.

As a result, he was allowed to leave temporarily, but has now returned to his parent club this summer and is potentially facing an uncertain future in north London.

Reports have indicated that Ndombele is not part of Conte's plans for the new season, although the France international has refused to rule out remaining at Spurs.

'Yes, I think it's possible to be happy at Tottenham,' he told Media Carre, via the Evening Standard.

'Regardless of where you can go, you can be happy or unhappy. We'll see how things go during pre-season. I'm not putting any more pressure on myself than that.'

Reflecting on what may lie ahead for him, he went on to add: 'What I want is to be happy, take pleasure in what I do, play, win, that's all I want.'

Lyon endured a testing campaign last time out despite the arrival of Ndombele, who has admitted that the side struggled after their eighth-placed domestic finish.

They were also knocked out of the Europa League quarter-finals by West Ham.  

On the move, Ndombele said: 'It's complicated, mitigated.

'Four months go by very, very quickly. I don't regret it, even if we struggled.

'The most difficult thing to digest was getting eliminated by West Ham, but that's part of the life of a footballer.

'There's a need to know how to get back up when things don't go well.'
