National Football Museum brings fans together to show support for Lionesses at Women's World Cup

The National Football Museum in Manchester is hosting a gigantic St Georges flag in support of the Lionesses in their upcoming Women’s World Cup campaign in Australia and New Zealand.

The exceptionally-large flag belongs to the Just A Ball Game? movement, and called on visitors to sign their well-wishes to Sarina Wiegman’s side.

Steven Grocock, co-chair of JABG? said: "With the growth of the game due to the Lionesses' success last summer, and with the Women's World Cup being down under, Just A Ball Game? created a way for over 4,500 England fans to show their support by having a giant version of our existing Lionesses flag created.

“This allows them to sign their name and leave a good luck message on the 20ft flag which we have brought out to Australia with us."

Just A Ball Game? Is dedicated to raising awareness and challenging what is seen as homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic bullying - promoting LGBTQ+ equality, inclusion and diversity for all.

The initiative teamed up with the National Football Museum to host signing sessions showcasing England’s unparalleled support, carrying messages from supporters of all ages, genders, cultures and backgrounds from old Blighty across to the other side of the world where it will be displayed in stadiums throughout the competition.

The Lionesses compete in group D kicking off their tournament campaign against Haiti on Saturday, July 22 at 10:30 am available to watch via ITV1, followed by Denmark on July 28 and China on August 1 to round off the group stages.

Last year England's Lionesses conquered Europe, this year they are out to rule the world!

Sarina Wiegman takes her team Down Under this summer as one of the favourites to lift the World Cup.
