Nate Diaz vs Floyd Mayweather: MMA promotion wants to make fight happen

UFC legend Nate Diaz recently left the company after securing a win against Tony Ferguson, and now an MMA promotion apparently wants to give him an exhibition fight against boxing GOAT Floyd Mayweather.

Exhibition and ‘BoxTuber’ events have become big business over the past few years, with names such as Logan Paul, Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva all becoming box office draws.

Diaz has said that he wants to make his presence felt in other combat sports before making his way back to the UFC, so a boxing exhibition bout with one of the biggest names of all time would be a massive way to start.

Here is everything you need to know about the MMA promotion that wants to have Nate Diaz vs Floyd Mayweather headline an event.

Speaking to MMAMania, Rizin MMA boss Nobujuki Sakakibara revealed that he wants to put Diaz in the ring with ‘Money.’

He said: “Nick and Nate, they both have a great personality, their fighting style is very exciting, and we’ve known them since the PRIDE days. We had Nick fight in PRIDE before and we’ve known them from way back. So, if we were to do something with Floyd again, we always have to talk about an opponent.

“We do think we’re at a point where we can’t just only focus on the Japanese market anymore. We have to target the international audience. So, with that said, Floyd’s opponent doesn’t have to be a Japanese fighter anymore.

“It’s just one possibility thinking about the future. Not only Floyd’s opponent, but Nate Diaz as an individual has a great amount of character, fight style, and a great following internationally. So, as an individual, he would definitely be somebody we’d be interested to be talking to.”
