Nate Diaz only had two words after hearing Jake Paul saying he can beat Canelo

It’s fair to say that Jake Paul has established himself as a real household name in the sport of boxing.

Coming off of a knockout win over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, Paul hasn’t fought since December.

With that being said, he has recently tweeted claiming that he will be making a return to the ring in August.

Speaking ahead of Amanda Serrano’s fight with Katie Taylor, Paul said: “Just give me a couple of years, I’m coming for your boy Canelo.”

His comments were directed towards promoter Eddie Hearn, who claimed that Jake will never become a champion.

Over the last week, Jake has claimed that he would defeat boxing’s pound for pound number one.

His comments have certainly caused a real stir across the combat sports community.

A reporter said to UFC superstar Nate Diaz that: “Jake Paul says he would beat Canelo.”

Nate, surprised by Paul’s comment, simply responded with: “At what?”

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Paul said: “Other people think [I am not ready to fight Alvarez]. People try to place limits on what is possible for you. You are a unicorn doing something different … for me, I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.

“I know I can get after Canelo, I know I can go rounds with him and the guy he fought the other time, the Turkish warrior [Avni Yildirim], quit after three rounds and he didn’t throw one punch.”

Previously, Canelo stated that he would never fight Paul. However, the Mexican is now open to fighting The Problem Child, providing he works his way up through the professional ranks. 

With an opponent yet to be decided, Jake is open to fighting anyone.

However, his next opponent will not be Alvarez. Canelo is set to face Dmitry Bivol for the WBA (Super) light heavyweight title this weekend.
