Napoli chief makes Scott McTominay transfer admission as Man United sent huge update

Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has hailed the quality of Scott McTominay and refused to rule out a move for the Manchester United midfielder.

The 27-year-old Scotland international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with Fulham seeing two bids rejected.

Earlier this week, The Times claimed Napoli had opened talks with United over signing McTominay, with the 2023 Serie A winners preferring an initial loan deal for the midfielder. United's asking price for the Scotland international is thought to be £25m.

When asked about the potential signing of McTominay, and his international team-mate Billy Gilmour, before Napoli's Serie A opener against Verona on Sunday, Manna said: "They [McTominay and Brighton's Gilmour] are good, strong players. Let's see what happens in the next few days.

"It's useless to make forward momentum today there is the game and after the game, we will think about the market."

McTominay did not start United's first Premier League game of the season - Friday's 1-0 win over Fulham - on the bench but was called upon by manager Erik ten Hag late in the second half as he replaced Kobbie Mainoo.

The midfielder has 12 months remaining on his current United deal, though the club have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

With Ultra HD included at no extra cost, football fans can enjoy the 2024/25 season with crystal
