Mystery surrounds foam and bubbles in Greater Manchester river
The Environment Agency is still investigating what caused the River Tame to be filled with bubbles and foam yesterday.
Mystery surrounds the surreal display after suds and foam from the river filled the air on Monday morning. One resident said their street was left looking like a 'foam party in Ibiza' as the bubbles spilled out onto the road.
The Environment Agency said yesterday that their officers were on the scene 'investigating the source' of the pollution in the river. In an update issued today, the agency said they have not been able to find out what caused the foam.

Officers are back at the River Tame today 'looking for potential causes to stop it from happening again'. An Environment Agency spokesperson said: "Environment Agency officers attended the River Tame to investigate yesterday but were unable to find a source of the foam.
"Officers are out again today looking for potential causes to stop it happening again. We would like to thank members of the public who reported this to our environmental incidents hotline 0800 80 70 60."
Yesterday those living closest to the river were startled by the surreal display outside their homes. "It was horrendous," said Derek Cooper, 89.
"It was all up in the air. It was like a snow storm. At the back [of my house] it was full of foam." Mr Cooper said he could recall a similar event 'a few years ago', and he had some concerns around 'what damage it might do, polluting the river'.
One resident living close to the river, who asked not to be named, said she had never seen anything like it before. "I was looking out of the window at the back," the 51-year-old said.
"I couldn't figure
