My Rangers and West Ham Europa League Final dream is still on with erratic Braga to come - Barry Ferguson

So it’s back to Braga and the Battle of Britain will have to wait.

Like the last 16 draw, I could hear London calling but sadly there will be no showdown with West Ham for Rangers’ Europa League shocktroops – not yet anyway.

But Gio van Bronckhorst should definitely be getting excited about what lies ahead after yesterday’s draw.

Dodging a date with Barcelona, Lyon and the Hammers is a boost but landing a return to Braga is about as good a result as my old team could have hoped for.

It’s 100 per cent a winnable tie and not just because we got the better of them in 2020.

Carlos Carvalhal’s team have done well to match Rangers’ run to the last eight but they’ve been an extremely erratic bunch all season.

They’re a whopping 24 points behind Portuguese league leaders Porto and haven’t strung more than two wins together all season.

So having dominated Dortmund and raged past Red Star Belgrade, the lads are in with a great shout of marching on again.

Leipzig and Atalanta will be a tougher test if they make the semis but, fingers crossed, Davie Moyes’ team can keep up their end of the bargain and I’ll get that Scotland-England showdown I’m desperate to see in Seville on May 18.

Thursday’s game at the mental Marakana was not the easiest of watches but Gers showed some proper steel to get through the tie.
