'My little girl gets bullied and stared at everywhere she goes - it breaks my heart'
The mum of a little girl with alopecia who gets bullied and stared at everywhere she goes has spoken of her heartbreak.
Amelia Miah, from Levenshulme, began experiencing patchy hair loss at the age of three but her hair would always grow back. However, her hair started falling out completely in 2022 – leaving her with just a single strand at the back of her head.
From GP visits to different types of creams, her devastated mum, Maggie Grey, has exhausted every option to restore her daughter’s beautiful locks. The 27-year-old did try out a wig for little Amelia but it didn’t fit properly, leaving the youngster in a lot of discomfort.

Sadly, Amelia’s condition has made her a target for cruel bullying, with some children refusing to play with her because they think she has a disease.
"She’s been getting bullied at school quite badly,” heartbroken mum Maggie told the Manchester Evening News.
“It’s not only affecting her; it affects me, too. I worry the second I drop her off. Every week, without fail, the teacher will tell me what incidents have happened.
“When we go out the door, everyone stares at her. Someone told her that she's weird. Another child said she has a disease and that they don’t want to play with her. They asked her if she had cancer.
“She's in Year 2, and there was a boy who the teacher told her called her "baldy" and laughed at her.
“Amelia is a lot stronger than I am when it comes to this; she goes straight to the teacher and doesn’t get upset. She’s used to people saying things to her. I told her to just explain the situation to them.”
Maggie says she finds the situation so upsetting she has even broken down in tears
