Murder probe as body found in Welsh town

A murder investigation is under way and roads have been cordoned off in Prestatyn after a woman's body was discovered on Friday. Detectives are at the scene in Dawson Drive with people urged to avoid the area.

The discovery was made shortly before 8.40am by a member of the public reporting a body located in the area. At 1.20pm today a local man was arrested in the Coniston Drive area of Prestatyn on suspicion of murder.

Police are investigating the circumstances and urged anybody with information to contact the force. The scene has been cordoned off by officers and members of the public have been asked to avoid the area while police deal with the incident.

Superintendent Lee Boycott of North Wales Police said: “Investigations are under way at pace to establish the circumstances of the incident.

“We understand there will be concern within our local communities and we will continue to keep them informed as we gather more information.

“There will be an increased policing presence locally today and into the weekend to support our investigation and reassure the public.

“We ask that anyone with concerns, or information that could assist with our investigations, to approach our officers in the community. You can also contact us via the website or by calling us on 101.

“I would also ask that people do not speculate online and to report any information or concerns to officers. We will provide further information in due course.”
