Mums caught on shoplifting spree while on day-trip to do some "serious thieving"

Three stay-at-home mums went on a shoplifting spree at two retails parks and a shopping mall whilst on a girlie day-trip do some “serious thieving” ahead of Christmas.

Karen Beckett, 44, Paige Griffin, 28, and Ann-Marie Beckett, 35, stole more than a thousand pounds worth of consumer goodies during a 140 mile round trip to Cheshire's so-called ''Golden Triangle.''

The group carefully planned their stealing expedition last November with test runs and they also acquired foil lined bags to evade security detectors before raiding four high street stores in just three hours.

Initially they went to the Lyme Green retail park in Macclesfield where they looted shelves and rails at Matalan and Home Bargains before switching to the nearby Grosvenor Shopping Centre where they hit TK Maxx.

They then finally moved onto Handforth Dean near Wilmslow which is popular with Premier League soccer WAGs, went into Next and filched 73 items of clothing footwear and cosmetics, totalling £1,340.

The women tried to flee back to their homes in the West Midlands in a Nissan Qashqai but were arrested after security officials at one of the retails parks were able to identify the car involved in the thefts via CCTV and passed the registration number onto police.

Officers stopped the vehicle at an unknown location and recovered all of the stolen items - many of which still had their security tags on. Inquiries revealed all the women had criminal records with two having convictions for petty theft.
