Flood warnings in place across parts of England on Easter Monday

There are flood warnings for parts of England this Easter Monday, and heavy rain could spoil the day for people travelling home after the Easter break.

The south of England might get a lot of rain, with chances of hail and thunder too. England has 10 places where floods are expected, like the River Brue in Somerset and the River Severn in Gloucestershire.

There are also 112 places where floods might happen. About 2.01 million car trips are planned for Easter Monday, says the RAC and Inrix, a company that looks at traffic.

The busiest time on the roads could be between 10am and 12pm. It's a good idea to travel later, maybe in the evening. Liam Eslick a forecaster at the Met Office warns there could be "risk of localised flooding" in some spots, reports Yorkshire Live.

Mr Eslick advises: "Being the bank holiday weekend, people are travelling around at this time, so we'd recommend checking road coverage if people are driving or any bus and train timetables to see if there are any cancellations."

When it's raining, drivers should go slower because it's harder to see and the roads are slippery. They should stay at least four seconds behind the car in front.

Forecasters say the rain could bring 5mm to 15mm of water. Scotland and Northern Ireland might have nicer weather with more sun.

The weather after the long weekend is expected to be unsettled, with low pressure dominating and spells of heavy rain likely.
