Mumbai Cricket Association gets into election mode, Jageshwar Saharia could be poll officer

“He will receive a remuneration of Rs 10 lakhs,” a source in MCA revealed. A crucial meeting at former ICC, BCCI and MCA president Sharad Pawar's residence on Sunday (September 11) is likely to make things clearer regarding who is likely to be the next MCA president, or the presidential candidate.

Pawar is unofficially the “patron” of the association and his word carries weight. “Besides Pawar, the meeting will be attended by Vijay Patil (current MCA president), Ashish Shelar (former MCA president), ex-BCCI and MCA administrator Ratnakar Shetty and ex-MCA secretary PV Shetty.

Much about the prospective candidates for the MCA elections will be known after this meeting,” said a source. The names of current president Vijay Patil, India’s 1983 World Cup hero Sandeep Patil and vice-president Amol Kale are doing the rounds as candidates for the MCA president’s post in the poll.

Bonus for coach MuzumdarMumbai coach Amol Muzumdar will receive a bonus of Rs 10 lakhs after guiding the team to the final of the Ranji Trophy last season, it was decided at an Apex Council meeting of the MCA on Thursday. It was Muzumdar's first season as Mumbai coach.

The domestic giants crashed out in the league stage of both the limited-overs tournaments — the T20 Mushtaq Ali Trophy and 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy — but bounced back to reach the Ranji final, where they lost to Madhya Pradesh by six wickets in Bangalore back in June.
