Motorists face disruption NEXT WEEK as major Manc road to be resurfaced

A section of a major Mancunian road is set to be resurfaced in the next few weeks, council bosses have announced.

Princess Parkway — also called Princess Road — will be repaired near its junction with the M60. The route connects the motorway, Greater Manchester’s outer ring road, to the city-region’s inner ring road, linking up to Mancunian Way.

Council chiefs say they have assessed the road and found it needs repairs from the M60 Junction 5 off slip to the junction of Barlow Moor Road in south Manchester. Work will start next week, on February 19.

It will run until February 24, with crews working from 9pm to 5am for safety reasons, the authority has said. To allow work to take place, lane closures will be in force, meaning motorists should plan ahead and check Transport for Greater Manchester’s website and social media channels for updates.

“I’m pleased that working with our partners in National Highways we have been able to carry out this improvement work sooner than we had expected,” Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport said.

“As a Council we remain committed to improving our highways network and we are confident this latest scheme of work will have a positive impact for motorists. We know this will cause some delays and disruption, but we are grateful for the public’s understanding during the course of works.”
