MotoGP Germany: Espargaro ‘angry with himself and strategy’

Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro put the disappointment of Barcelona far behind him as he arrived at the Sachsenring searching for points.

With the help of a few rides of a different kind, some time out with the family and a fresh outlook as the MotoGP season meets the halfway stage, Espargaro pinpointed more than just his last lap mistake that cost him the potential of challenging for a home win last time out.

“Yes, for sure I will try to forget as soon as I jump on the bike tomorrow, FP1,” Espargaro said of his premature celebrations at Catalunya. “But I have to say that this time I struggled more to forget. On Sunday night I couldn’t sleep, the test was very difficult for me on Monday, but also Tuesday/Wednesday I was training with the bicycle - the thing that I love the most of my life - and I couldn’t stop thinking about the mistake.

“I was angry with myself because I tried to repeat to myself that ‘is just a human mistake, it can happen, forget it’, but I couldn’t.
