MotoGP Buriram: Ogden ‘pleased to be back in the points’

Scott Ogden was back to scoring points for the rookie VisionTrack Racing Moto3 outfit after a strong Thai Grand Prix.

The first visit to the Chang International Circuit for both Ogden and teammate Josh Whatley found the pair up to speed quickly despite a rain hit Friday practice with Saturday’s drier conditions throwing in further challenges.

Launching from 22nd and 27th on the grid respectively, the 22-lap race found Ogden repeatedly battling in the points positions before crossing the line in 15th. Whatley, recovering from being caught up in some early crash-fuelled drama, completed the action in 23rd.

“I was really pleased to come away with a point scoring finish from Thailand,” Ogden confirmed. “It’s been a tough few races but I feel like this has got my season back on track.

“I think Philip Island will suit my riding style so I’m looking forward to getting out there.”

“I’m disappointed not to finish higher in the race as I felt like I’d made a big step forward this weekend leading up to it,” Whatley added. “After the last few races I’ve had it was good to get a full race distance under my belt again though.”

“I was really impressed with both of our riders this weekend,” Team Manager, Taylor Mackenzie summed up from Thailand. “It was a new track for the two of them and they got up to speed really quickly.

“It was great for Scott to land a point scoring finish to set himself up for the final three races. Josh has also made huge progress over the last few rounds and I know he’ll be scoring points soon too.”
