Darwin Nunez is not worried about slow start to Liverpool career, says Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp says Darwin Nunez is showing no signs of worry and the club are completely calm as the summer signing continues to adapt to life at Liverpool.

The 23-year-old arrived from Benfica this year in a deal which could reach £85m, but he has not quite hit the ground running at Anfield.

There was an encouraging start, with an impressive cameo in the Charity Shield followed by a goal in the opening Premier League match of the season against Fulham, but things have slowed down for him since then.

That strike against the Cottagers remains his only competitive goal for the Reds and he has started just twice in the Premier League, partly due to a suspension following a red card against Crystal Palace, but also due to the form of Roberto Firmino keeping him out of the side.

Klopp insists that it is all just part of the transitional period as the Uruguay international gets used to his new team and life in England and there is nothing to worry about.

Asked about Nunez’s current confidence and form, Klopp told a press conference: ‘It’s good. Of course he’s still adapting, how players always adapt.

‘New players come in and everybody talks about them and wants them to shine immediately. That happens from time to time and sometimes not.
