MotoE Official Test: Garzo fastest as Aegerter wins race simulation

Three days of MotoE testing at Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto culminated with Dominique Aegerter winning Wednesday’s race simulation.

Tech 3’s Hector Garzo and Pons Racing’s Mattia Casadei joined the Dynavolt Intact GP rider on the podium with LCR’s Eric Granado crashing out at turn one mid-race.

With the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup season set to begin at the end of the month, the final preseason preparations wrapped up with nine sessions over three days in Andalucia, including a qualifying simulation alongside the nine-lap race. Tuesday’s action, however, was curtailed due to rain.

Granado proved strongest in Monday’s qualifying practice, as the new schedule got its first outing. The changeable forecast having seen the Q1/Q2 brought forward to the opening day after last month’s attempt was also hit by poor conditions.

Garzo headed the closely-matched combined times as the test concluded due to a 1’48.458 effort with Aegerter just 0.022 off and Felo Gresini’s Matteo Ferrari a further 0.025 behind.

Bradley Smith completed the top ten in both times and race action as the sole representative for new entrant’s WithU GRT RNF, while Nick Canepa concentrated his focus on the final day of testing at Le Mans ahead of this weekend’s 24 heures Motos. The Brit was also strongest in the wet conditions on Tuesday.
