Mothewell loanee wants to seize East Kilbride chance to emulate fellow Fir Park kids

Defender Logan Dunachie says he is loving his experience at East Kilbride as the Motherwell loanee gets to pit his wits against men for the first time.

And he hopes he can follow in the footsteps of fellow Fir Park teen Lennon Miller by making a breakthrough into the Steelmen’s first team in the near future.

The 18-year-old, from Cumbernauld, is on a six-month loan at K-Park after being encouraged by ‘Well boss Steven Hammell to get first team experience.

Hammell has shown he is not afraid to play kids in claret and amber after Lennon Miller became Motherwell’s youngest-ever player at the age of 16 when he made his first team debut in August.

So Dunachie – whom Hammell has previously stated he has high hopes for – is aiming to impress his gaffers at Motherwell and East Kilbride during his stint in the Lowland League.

He said: “I’m loving it at East Kilbride. It’s good to get some games and some positive results so far.

“This is the first loan I’ve had in my career and it’s good to be playing against men.

“It’s obviously a different experience to playing against the youth players and I am enjoying it.

“He [Hammell] was pushing me to go out and get games to prove myself at this level to try and gain his trust as well.

“He said that can hopefully push me on to play at Motherwell and it was all positive speaking to him.

“It motivates me even more seeing boys around me getting into the Motherwell first team, especially the likes of Lennon Miller.

“He’s been getting on in games and it is a great achievement for him so hopefully there’s a lot more to follow him.”

Dunachie joined Kilby on deadline day in August and suffered a 3-2 defeat to Edinburgh University on his debut, before seeing red for dissent in EK’s Scottish Cup
