Motherwell star is eager for Holland training camp as Steelmen step up pre-season

Bevis Mugabi can’t wait to see what’s in store for Motherwell at their Holland training camp next week.

Stuart Kettlewell on Saturday takes his squad to Delden for a seven-day training camp, with two friendly matches to be played, the first of which is against Derde Divisie side HSC Haaksbergen on Tuesday, with diehard fans able to gain entry for free, if they head to the Netherlands.

Defender Mugabi, 28, reckons the camp will provide a great opportunity to see what Kettlewell has planned for the team next season, and getting a full pre-season under their belts will be good for him and his team-mates.

He said: “I’m very excited to be honest, excited to have a full pre-season under the new gaffer, to see what he’s got to show us, and to see what our game plan is, going into the new season.

“It’s going to be a new environment, new players coming in, a new experience for all of us, and it’s one that I’m very excited for.

“Pre-season is vital, especially getting your body used to the load after our small break, and just for team bonding, especially with new signings coming in, and a lot of players that have left during the summer.

“It’s good to unite us as a group and put us in good stead for the rest of the season.

“Pre-season sets you up for the full season, as long as we keep everyone fit, because you know it’s tough – some players are still coming back from injury.

“As long as we can get everybody through it successfully then we should have a good start to the season.”

Motherwell kick-off their competitive campaign on Saturday, July 15, with their Viaplay Cup Group G opener at League Two side Elgin City.

They then travel to League One side Queen of the South, before back-to-back home clashes against Championship
