Motherwell's Louis Moult move latest as club aim to secure post-deadline signing

Motherwell are trying to complete a deal for Louis Moult and seal his sensational return to Fir Park.

The Steelmen made an 11th hour bid to sign the 'Well hero from Burton Albion last night and it is understood the club are seeking confirmation that a short-term deal until January can be ratfied. As news of the swoop broke last night, fans were desperately awaiting an announcement today.

But there wasn't a peep coming out of Fir Park until this afternoon's push-backed press conference at 1pm revealed the club are exploring some options, despite the transfer window slamming shut last night.

Boss Steven Hammell remained tight-lipped on exactly who they are chasing, but when asked if he was still trying to bring someone in ahead of tomorrow's clash at home to Dundee United, he said: "We tried to get some stuff done into the early hours but that didn't quite happen.

"But we still have some options we can explore.

"We are still looking to do something and we are hoping to do something."

Moult had a prolific three-year spell in ML1 between 2015-2018 and became a huge fan favourite after guiding the team to two cup finals in the 2017/18 season.

He memorably scored a double as the Steelmen knocked Rangers out of the 2017 League Cup semi-finals in a 2-0 win at Hampden.

Earlier in the window, The Steelmen expressed an interest in former Scotland international Robert Snodgrass, who is a free agent since turning down a new deal at Luton Town.
