Motherwell complete Apostolos Stamatelopoulos signing as star says "I'm here to score goals and make impact"

Motherwell have completed the signing of striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos on a three-year deal and the Australian is determined to make an impact, telling fans: "I'm here to score goals."

The 25-year-old's move from Newcastle Jets, which is subject to international clearance and work permit, is for an undisclosed fee, although reports have suggested the Steelmen agreed a six-figure fee for his services.

Stamatelopoulos arrived in Scotland last week and took in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Partick Thistle before completing his medical over the past two days.

Stamatelopoulos netted 17 times during the 2023/24 season with the Jets, earning him a spot in the PFA A-League Team of the Season and in A-League All Stars match against Newcastle United, where he scored twice.

He has also been involved in Australia's World Cup Qualifying squad for matches against Bangladesh and Palestine in the summer and won his first cap against Palestine.

Motherwell have the option to extend his deal to a fourth year and boss Stuart Kettlewell is delighted to finally get the deal over the line.

Kettlewell said: “We’ve been looking to bring someone in who is a goalscorer. Apostolos has qualities that we’re looking to add to the squad. Last season, he
