"Most improved player under Conte" - Sky Sports reporter raves over "colossal" Tottenham ace

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge thinks Tottenham defender Eric Dier has had a significant upturn in form since Antonio Conte arrived at the club.

Dier played an important role in Spurs’ 3-2 win over Manchester City on Saturday, and Bridge believes he has become a key presence at the heart of the side’s defence in recent months.

Coming off the back of three straight league defeats, Tottenham entered their match against the defending champions as the clear underdogs.

However, they managed to pull off a memorable upset thanks to a brace from Harry Kane, while Dejan Kulusevski also got his first goal for the club.

At the other end of the pitch, Dier held things together well at the back as Tottenham had to deal with long spells of City pressure.

According to WhoScored, the 45-cap international made eight clearances in the match – more than any other player on the pitch.

Bridge feels Dier has come on leaps and bounds since Conte became Spurs’ new manager in November.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “I think he’s Tottenham’s most improved player under Conte.”

Reflecting on Tottenham’s victory against City, Bridge also singled out Dier for individual praise as he returned to the team after a recent injury.

“He just looked colossal,” Bridge added.

Dier has missed some games in recent weeks with a thigh injury, and this coincided with a slump in form for Spurs as they suffered home defeats against Southampton and Wolves.

He was a steadying presence before his setback, though, and he slotted back into the side’s back three seamlessly on Saturday.
