Moss Side 'murder' LIVE updates as investigations continue on scene after boy, 17, stabbed

Police are continuing to carry out investigations at the scene of a fatal stabbing in Moss Side this morning.

A murder probe was launched after a 17-year-old was fatally knifed on Raby Street just after 4.15pm yesterday (April 4). The teenager was rushed to hospital from the scene with serious injuries, but tragically died a short time later.

Detectives said last night that no arrests had been made. Emergency services flooded the scene after the attack, with a cordon put in place on the street as a forensic tent was erected.

An air ambulance was scrambled to the incident, landing in nearby Millennium Park. Forensic officers later arrived to conduct investigations as officers in white suits took photos of the scene.

This morning, Raby Street remains closed off in both directions by officers. It is shut from Barnhill Street to Moss Lane East.

Police patrols have been stepped up in the area as detectives continue their investigations. "We are continuing to appeal for any information or relevant footage – including mobile, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam", Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles at Greater Manchester Police said on Thursday evening.

"Any information you have will be treated with the strictest confidence and if you do have information to share, I urge you to do the right thing and report it to police."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 2280 of 4/4/24. Details can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
