Mortified Todd Cantwell hooked by Rangers after 35 MINUTES as brutal Philippe Clement call sees star rage in dugout

Ashen-faced Todd Cantwell was left mortified after he was hooked by hardline Philippe Clement following 35 ill-fated minutes against Aris Limassol.

The playmaker could barely believe it after Ross McCausland replaced him amid a error-ridden display by the Englishman and his team-mates at Ibrox in the first half. The call to sub off Cantwell led to a mixture of shock and anger among 50,000 supporters as Clement took the executive call that the attacker's night was over and the player was left open-mouthed.

Cantwell was subbed off at half-time against Hearts in the Viaplay Cup semi final but that was put down to a tactical call over fears Jambos players would wind him up as he already was on a caution during the Hampden showpiece. But the man signed in January looked bereft as he shook his head and pushed an object away inside the dugout.

Rangers supporters were left vexed with both Jose Cifuentes and Sam Lammers staying on with the summer signings continuing to toil in Light Blue. The Dutchman started in Cantwell's preferred position off the main striker.

The former England youth international has raved about Clement's impact on his game but appeared less than impressed after his night was ended in abrupt fashion in front of home supporters.
