More Stirling Albion stalwarts depart for pastures new as busy pre-season set to begin

The hard work for Stirling Albion kicks off this week as pre-season training kicks off following a tumultuous summer at Forthbank.

New manager Alan Maybury will have the chance to run the rule over the remainder of his squad – and some potential new faces with the first session on Thursday.

The former Edinburgh City boss has a busy period ahead as he tries to assemble a coaching staff and backroom team, as well as getting to work rebuilding a Binos squad decimated by departures since their relegation back to League Two.

Three more of those departures were officially confirmed over the weekend – with first-team stalwarts of recent seasons Jack Leitch and Jordan McGregor set to re-unite at Lowland League East Kilbride.

Meanwhile, winger Kieran Moore also announced on his social media that he would also be leaving Stirling.

Midfielder Leitch made 130 appearances for the Binos after joining from Peterhead in 2020 and proved a key cog in the midfield as the Binos surged to League Two glory in 2022/23.

Former Hibs youngster McGregor has been even more of a fixture at Forthbank, first signing with the club from Airdrieonians back in 2019 and cemented a spot in the Stirling back four.

He departs after making 172 appearances in the red and white, netting ten times.

Moore made the switch to Stirling from Queen’s Park in 2020 after a stunning career at local club Lochgilphead Red Star, where he scored 61 times.

The 24-year-old was another popular player for his hard work down the right flank, making 132 appearances for the Binos and scoring seven times.
