Monaco Grand Prix LIVE: Race suspended as chaos in pit lane has mechanics scrambling

Lewis Hamilton is expecting a difficult afternoon at the Monaco Grand Prix with the Brit set to start from eighth on the grid. The seven-time world champion's lowly position is partly down to Sergio Perez crashing into the barrier late in Q3, denying a number of drivers the opportunity to set a final flying lap.

Nonetheless, Hamilton struggled with his Mercedes all weekend as the bouncing returned on a not-so-flat street track.

"Horrendous, it feels pretty bad here," Hamilton confessed ahead of the race. "Very bumpy for some reason. It's very hard for us to get below a second of the [Ferrari and Red Bull] guys, it takes a lot of risk."

Charles Leclerc will start on pole with Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz alongside him on the front row. The two Red Bulls complete the second row, with Perez ahead of Max Verstappen.

McLaren star Lando Norris qualified in fifth place, just ahead of George Russell in sixth. Old rivals Fernando Alonso and Hamilton will occupy the fourth row in seventh and eighth respectively.
