Monaco GP: Sergio Perez tops FP3 as he snaps Charles Leclerc's run

Sergio Perez took P1 in final practice at the Monaco Grand Prix, as he snapped Charles Leclerc’s run of recording fastest times.

Leclerc has been quickest in Monaco so far this weekend in every practice session but he could only manage second-fastest on Saturday lunchtime, as Perez went quickest of all.

Indeed, the Mexican is looking strong this weekend, with him going faster than Max Verstappen in the other Red Bull in every practice session so far, and we’ve also had the same top three in every session, just in a different order each time.

In FP1, it was Leclerc from Perez from Carlos Sainz, whilst FP2 saw Leclerc head Sainz and then Perez on Friday, whilst we now have the Mexican ahead of the local man and his Scuderia team-mate.

Perhaps, then, they are the safe bet for the top three in qualifying this afternoon but, of course, Max Verstappen more than has the ability to get involved and snatch a spot higher up.

Behind the top four, Pierre Gasly again looked strong as he took P5 ahead of Lando Norris, with both men good shouts for the best of the rest tag this weekend in Monte-Carlo.

Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, was in 7th after a good late lap despite complaining considerably about the level of bouncing his Mercedes is suffering around the iconic street circuit, with team-mate George Russell in 9th.

Kevin Magnussen, meanwhile, was between them in 8th for Haas whilst Fernando Alonso completed the top 10 in the Alpine, with it again clear the midfield battle is going to be exciting with so many constructors all in with a chance of making Q3 later on this afternoon in quali.
