Mo Salah’s place among Liverpool’s greatest ever goalscorers and chances of taking record

Having finally put pen to paper on a new long-term Liverpool deal, Mohamed Salah 's focus will no doubt have now turned to further cementing his place in the club's history books.

The Egyptian finally lay ongoing speculation surrounding his future to rest on Friday by committing to a new mega-money contract at Anfield. The fresh terms will keep the 30-year-old at Liverpool until 2025 while making him the highest-paid player in the club's illustrious history, on wages which exceed a whopping £350,000-per-week.

The forward has been integral to the Reds' relentless run of success in recent seasons having contributed a mammoth 156 goals in 254 appearances since signing from Roma back in 2017. With three more years at Liverpool now secured, Salah stands in good stead to usurp some of the club's all-time greats and ascend even higher up the Reds' prestigious goalscoring charts.

“It’s great to be number nine on the list of goalscorers for the club, especially when you do it in a short time," Salah admitted. "I’ve said many times before, the most important thing is to win trophies, but when you score goals and help your teams win games, it is something to be proud of."

When probed on how good it must feel to rank among Liverpool's all-time greatest goalscorers, the Egyptian added: “Yes, especially when you do it in such a short time, as a winger, with many assists. It’s really great.”
