Missing man found at home in ‘very decomposed state’

A missing Manchester man was tragically found at home in a ‘very decomposed state’, a coroner has today confirmed.

Giedrius Gulbinas was 56-years-old when he was reported missing around the Holtby Street area of Moston, north Manchester, on July 4. He was last seen three days earlier.

At the time, detectives were said to be ‘becoming increasingly concerned about him'. Now, tragically, a coroner has confirmed that Mr Gulbinas, originally from Lithuania, was found dead at his home, on Holtby Street — three weeks after his final sighting.

Presiding over the inquest hearing at Manchester Coroners’ Court, on St Ann’s Square in the city centre, was Senior Coroner Nigel Meadows. He revealed more about the particulars of Mr Gulbinas’ death.

“A concern of welfare [report was made] on July 22,” he told courtroom two. “His premises were entered.

“Police entered and he was found in a very decomposed state. He was positively identified by DNA comparison on September 1. The police say there are no suspicious circumstances [surrounding the death]”

Mr Meadows also went on to order for a post-mortem and toxicology report to be produced for November 15, when the case will be reviewed. The next hearing in the proceedings will be ‘shortly after’ that date, he added.
